Vintage Garcia / Jacques Brazilian Hollow-Handle Survival Knife with Leather Sheath, Compass & Sharpening Tool

Offered is an original vintage Garcia hollow-handle survival knife manufactured by Jacques in Brazil, dating approximately to the late 1960s–early 1970s.

The blade is clearly marked GARCIA on one side and JACQUES · STAINLESS / J-in-oval / BRAZIL on the reverse.

This distinctive early survival-knife design features a polished stainless steel spear-point blade, sawback spine, aluminum guard, stacked leather grip, hollow metal handle and removable threaded pommel cap for survival-item storage.

Included is the original-style brown leather sheath stamped BRAZIL. The sheath retains its black combination survival accessory with inset compass and abrasive sharpening surface, a component frequently missing from surviving examples.

The Garcia survival knife is associated with the Ken Warner/Pete Dickey survival-knife design lineage. Early examples were produced by Hackman in Finland, with later lighter-production examples manufactured for Garcia in Brazil. This knife is being represented as a vintage commercial survival knife; no claim of U.S. military issue or documented Vietnam service is being made.

Approximately 10½–10¾ inches overall with an approximately 6–6¼ inch blade based on the accompanying measurement photographs.

Why this piece is worth owning: This is an identifiable Garcia/Jacques example retaining its leather sheath, hollow-handle cap and specialized compass/sharpening accessory, giving it substantially more collector interest than an incomplete example.

Condition: Good vintage used condition. Blade shows scratches, polishing marks, scuffs and normal age/use wear. Stacked leather handle shows darkening and handling wear. Guard and pommel have surface wear consistent with age. Leather sheath shows creasing, surface wear, patina and hardware oxidation and has “Wild Bunch” handwritten on the leather. Stitching appears intact in the areas photographed. Compass and accessory are present but have not been tested for accuracy or function. Hollow handle is shown open and does not contain additional survival supplies.
